EU and OECD launch AI Literacy Framework for Students – ALL RIGHTS RESERVED The European Commission, together with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), has presented a framework for AI literacy for primary and secondary schools.

The framework, the executive explains in a statement, is structured around four areas: interacting with, creating, managing, and shaping AI. It provides teachers, school leaders, and education policymakers with a shared vision of the skills students need to understand and use AI responsibly and ethically. The initiative provides guidance and examples of classroom activities for the responsible use of technology, aiming to prepare students for the digital age.

“Understanding and using AI responsibly is essential for Europe’s competitiveness, as well as for safeguarding our democracy and social cohesion, and this starts in our classrooms,” said Commission Vice-President Roxana Minzatu. “With the launch of this framework, we are taking an important step to support AI literacy education across Europe.”
